New MTV VMAs Moonman Statue Designed By Jeremy Scott Revealed

Just what does the new MTV Moonman look like?  The newly and colorfully redesigned Moonman, the statue and symbol of the MTV Video Music Awards, has been revealed. The trophy was designed this year by designer Jeremy Scott, a favorite of VMA host Miley Cyrus.

The new Moonman is a colorful twist on the original silver statue. The 2015 Moonman is very colorful and holds an MTV flag decorated with the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers' TV test pattern bars. It's a nod to the position of television in bringing us entertainment.

"The redesign of the statue is part of MTV's long-standing history of bridging the gap between the world of fashion and music," the television network to People.

The Moonman now wears a big peace sign chain around its neck. Scott added this symbol to remind fans and viewers to spread unity and understanding, according to Variety.

The iconic statue also now has some new kicks. Winged shoes adorn the Moonman's feet. These shoes are a nod to Scott, whose signature shoes look similar.

The VMAs are happening on August 30. Cyrus is set to host, although the network's choice sparked outrage from the Parents Television Council. They called her "profane" and "sexually explicit" and deemed the awards show not "safe for children to watch."

The girls of Teen Mom 2 have been invited to the VMAs, including Chelsea Houska, Leah Messer, Kail Lowry and Jenelle Evans. However, they were apparently told that they could not bring their significant others.

The biggest drama of the night is likely to come from Nicki Minaj and Taylor Swift though. The two had a Twitter beef earlier this summer when Swift got more nominations than Minaj. Minaj took the moment to call out racism in the music industry, which Swift took as an attack on herself.

Time will tell if we'll have another historic VMA moment with Swift winning an award someone doesn't think she deserves.
