Chris Evans and Anthony Mackie appeared at Disney's D23 Expo recently, during which footage from Captain America: Civil War aired. The footage contained The Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan), and the two actors discussed with MTV News and Flicks and the City how the chracter fits into the movie. [SPOILERS to follow]

"The relationship between the three characters is more so a bond of kindred friendship," Mackie said with regard to how Cap's original friend fits into the new friendship between the two characters. "My respect for Cap helps me to help him find Bucky because I know how much that means to him, knowing where he's come from and everything and what he's gone through to this point. It's more so of an understanding and respect than it is three guys chumming around having a good time."

Will there be any awkwardness among the three? We'll have to wait and see, but Evans reassured fans that Cap and Falcon's friendship will remain strong.

"You've got to understand, Cap coming off the last movie, Falcon's the one guy, having known the least in terms of history, he actually trusts the most," he said. "There's a really nice kinship between these two characters and they do a really good job of picking up where we left off."

Finally, some fans have taken to nicknaming this movie "Avengers 2.5" since there are so many Marvel characters in the movie. After all, in addition to the characters mentioned earlier, we have Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark/Iron Man, Scarlett Johansson as Natasha Romanoff/Black Widow, Paul Bettany as The Vision, Jeremy Renner as Clint Barton/Hawkeye, Don Cheadle as Jim Rhodes/War Machine, Elizabeth Olsen as Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch, Chadwick Boseman as T’Challa/Black Panther, Emily VanCamp as Sharon Carter/Agent 13, Daniel Brühl, Frank Grillo as Brock Rumlow/ Crossbones, William Hurt as General Thaddeus 'Thunderbolt' Ross and Martin Freeman.

But Evans maintains that this is still firmly a movie about Captain America. "I don't know if it feels like an Avengers movie having been on an Avengers movie where you have to really balance a lot of storylines," he said. "They do a pretty good job of understanding the arc of what the story needs."
