We know that director J.J. Abrams' Star Wars: The Force Awakens is full of practical effects, but some characters will appear as CGI special effects, namely Maz Kanata portrayed by Oscar-winner Lupita Nyong'o. We've seen a number of trailers and teasers for the December 2015 release, but will a new preview show off the space pirate Kanata? In a new interview this week, Lupita revealed some spoilers about when her character will be shown off. Read more below to find out details!

So far, reports suggest that Kanata is some sort of pirate leader that hosts a number of smugglers and the like at her home base, possibly a castle. This comes from Cinema Blend, which also details the fact that this character is a motion capture performance from the 12 Years a Slave actress.

While we've wanted to see what Kanata looks like since photos of Lupita in mo-cap suit and sensors popped up earlier this year, it looks like we won't see the character until we're seeing the film in theaters!

Fandango spoke with cast and crew members at the 2015 D23 Expo earlier this month, revealing that Kanata is a character that won't be seen until December 18.

"Well, the easy part is you don't get to see me until you see the film," Nyong'o said, according to Slash Film. "All you get is dots on my face."
