'DWTS' Derek Hough Congratulates Sis Julianne Hough on Brooks Laich Engagement

We have some Dancing With the Stars news for you. While it isn't who the celebrity cast will be when season 20 starts next month, it is still a reason to celebrate. It was previously reported that DWTS veteran and judge on the ABC competition, Julianne Hough, is officially engaged. The starlet broke the news earlier this week when she posted a picture of her and boyfriend Brooks Laich on her Instagram account. The Capitals' hockey star and the dancing pro are celebrating their engagement and the pair's families couldn't be happier about the news. Brother and fellow competitor on DWTS, Derek Hough, also reached out to congratulate his sister on the happy news.

"We are overwhelmed with joy and excitement to share with you our recent engagement," Julianne wrote underneath a picture of her and Brooks that she shared to her 1.8 million followers on Instagram.

Derek spoke to the Insider where he gave some details about the couple's magical proposal that happened earlier this week.

"[I'm] so excited," Derek explained to the news site. "We actually spent the week at the lake house and all the family was there, the kids, nieces, and nephews. And we spent the most magical amazing week together and then at the very end [they] got engaged. He's a great guy, I just couldn't be happier for them."

The dancing pro also said that Brooks had a two hour conversation with Julianne and his dad on the deck of the lake house, where he asked for his permission to marry Julianne, according to Us Weekly.

"They locked themselves out on a deck- they were out there for a good two hours talking so I kind of had an idea," Derek says of Brooks talking to his dad. "I was like, 'Oh, ok. I see what's happening!"
