We didn't see this one coming. While fans of NBC's The Biggest Loser have watched as contestants have lost massive amounts of weight over the last 16 seasons of the weight loss series, there is news today that the NBC reality competition is about to suffer one of the biggest losses yet. It was just revealed that after being with the show for 8 years, and 13 seasons, Alison Sweeney has decided to part ways with the show. That's right; the Days of Our Lives actress announced that she will be sitting season 17 out.

Access Hollywood is reporting that a statement was released from show's camp early this week, stating, "After and incredible run together, Alison Sweeney will not be returning as host of The Biggest Loser next season."

The star has been with the show since 2007 when she took over for host and Sabrina the Teenage Witch star, Caroline Rhea. Rhea was with the show for the first three years before being replaced by the soap opera actress.

Sweeney has sat through many different installments of the series, as Us Weekly reports, she has watched families, couples, and contestants of all ages battle to lose weight on installments like The Biggest Loser: Battle of the Ages, and The Biggest Loser: No Excuses.

Variety has reported that the series will start filming season 17 in September, but that a replacement for the host has yet to be determined.

As for Sweeney's next project, the site is reporting that she will be returning to her Days of Our Lives roots when she returns to the series for the 50th anniversary this November. She departed the show back in 2014, but fans best know her for her role as Sami Brady, in addition to her hosting duties on the NBC reality series.
