Alicia Key's "Star Spangled Banner" rendition is getting criticized and raving reviews. The singer was seated while she sang played the piano, and many people are feeling she disrespected the tradition and many feel this may be the reason the NFL is blocking the video of her singing.

According to The Huffington Post, one morning show producer says, "It was disrespectful," the producer added, "they had enough time and manpower to think of this before the performance. They could have had her stand at her piano keyboard and sing. To me and a lot of my friends, she sounded great but the visual was wrong."

A publicist close to the singer is doing damage control and expressed that in no way was the singer trying to disrespect America, "Alicia is a proud American and was honored to perform at the event." The publicist continued, "Her slow version of 'The Star-Spangled Banner' was her own arrangement, accompanying herself on the piano, adding 'living in the home of the brave' at the end of the song. It's silly to see how that was being disrespectful."

The NFL is claiming the song was taken off of their site due to copyright grounds. Although the song was written before any copyright laws, Keys' arrangement can remain her property. In 1991 Super Bowl, Whitney Houston performed the performed a pre-recorded version of the song, which she copyright as her own.

The NFL plans on adding the video says spokesman Brian McCarthy who claimed Keys' performance had, "nothing to do with the content of the performance but a rights issue."
