Not only is Paul Heyman one of the greatest bookers, promoters and ringside advocates of all-time, he's also one of the best color commentators. If you ask Jim Ross who his other favorite person to broadcast with is, Heyman will certainly be second to Jerry Lawler. Let's not forget he was at the helm of the greatest Wrestlemania main event between Stone Cold Steve Austin and the Rock at Wrestlemania 17. It's because of these accolades that when Heyman has an opinion on the subject of announcing we should listen. During an episode of the Sam Roberts Show Heyman compared NXT announcer Corey Graves to UFC's Joe Rogan.

Heyman says the thing Graves does best is putting over talents.

"Corey gets the whole roster over and that's the key," Heyman told Roberts at Carolines on Broadway. "The job that he's doing is so phenomenal that sooner than later, we're going to say that Joe Rogan is the Corey Graves of UFC."

You can listen to the interview here:

Graves, also at Carolines with Heyman and Roberts, said he was humbled by the compliment and hoped the king of hardcore wasn't blowing smoke up his ass.

"I hope he's not full of it and I'm truly humbled," Graves responded. "The fact that [he said] it in front of people is doubly cool."

If Graves turns out to be one of the great announcers of WWE then it's well deserved. His once promising wrestling career was put to an end when doctors deemed he was no longer able to compete in the ring due to head injuries. Graves took the hand dealt to him and is now the staple of NXT's announcing team. You'd have to think that at some point he'll be making his debut on Monday Night Raw alongside Michael Cole.

Who knows? Maybe at some point Graves will be at the helm of the next great Wrestlemania main event the way Heyman was all those years ago.

Do you agree with Heyman's comments on Corey Graves being the Joe Rogan of WWE?
