About 35 pyramids that have been built closely have been discovered along with graves at site Sedeinga in Sudan. The pyramids were discovered in 2009 and has completely stunned researchers.

According to researchers, pyramids that were influenced by the Egyptian funerary architecture were packed into 5,381 square feet, which is the same size or slightly larger than an NBA court. The findings date back to 2,000 years ago during the Kush kingdom in Sudan. The kingdom once owned a border with Egypt and later the Roman Empire.

Research associate with the American Museum of Natural History in New York, Vincent Francigny says, "The density of the pyramids is huge." He told LiveScience, "Because it lasted for hundreds of years they built more, more, more pyramids and after centuries they started to fill all the spaces that were still available in the necropolis."

The largest pyramid that was found at the Sedeinga site was 22 feet wide at the base most likely for the burial of a small child about 30 inches long. When discovered the top of the pyramids were not attached, that may have been damaged by a camel caravan route. Eventually, the burial grounds in one pyramid ran out of room and had to use old resources, "They reached a point where it was so filled with people and graves that they had to reuse the oldest one," Francigny said.
