A nine-year-old girl has given birth to a baby boy weighing 6 pounds in Mexico. The child became pregnant she was only eight, and delivered her newborn in a c-section.
The girl from Guadalajara, Jalisco, gave birth on January 27, but word got out today about the young girls delivery in hopes to find the 17-year-old father who ran away when he found out she was pregnant.
Prosecutor, Jorge Villasenor, told Mexican daily Milenio. "We want to find the young man who was responsible to know his version, because she (the mother) is not able to understand the significance of their actions," he added, "This is a case of rape or child sexual abuse."
The hospital released both mother and child, but will keep a close on the family due to the 9-year-old age.
According to Todayifoundout.com, the youngest person ever to have a child was five-years old, May 14th, 1939 in Ticrapo, Peru. Lina Medina's parents worried when her stomach was increasing in size and thought that she may have been possessed by evil spirits. Dr. Geraldo Lozada examined her and found she was 8 months pregnant.
Due to a rare condition known as precocious puberty -which occurs in girls around 11-12. Her mother admitted that when she was 2 ½ she began to have a menstrual cycle and by age 4 her breast developed. Medina's son grew up thinking his mother was his sister until he was 10-years-old. Medina never revealed who her father was, but in a 1955 article by Luis Leon he says, "Some pointed out there were frequent festivities celebrated by Indians in Andean villages, like the one where Lina was born. These often ended up in orgies in which rape was not uncommon."
