Apparently all of those rumors around Idris Elba being cast as the first black James Bond don't hold up in the mind of author Anthony Horowitz. As the newest writer to take on the iconic 007 spy series in his new book Trigger Mortis, Horowitz was asked a few questions about the current series of movies starring Daniel Craig and his opinion on the upcoming Spectre film, but he also touched on Elba. According to the author, the Star Trek Beyond actor is too "street" and not "suave" enough for the role! Twitter users have reacted in the funniest ways after this quote spread around the Internet. "Idris Elba is a terrific actor, but I can think of other black actors who would do it better," Horowitz told The Daily Mail in a new interview. According to UPROXX, he name-drops Hustle actor Adrian Lester, who admittedly is a good choice for Bond as well.

"For me, Idris Elba is a bit too rough to play the part. It's not a color issue. I think he is probably a bit too 'street' for Bond. Is it a question of being suave? Yeah," Horowitz added, which erupted in a big Twitter debate with some great reactions from fans and celebrities

Whether or not Elba ever lands the 007 role, we do know that he's starring in the 2016 blockbuster Star Trek Beyond, which is the third film in the franchise. Director Justin Lin's new movie will see Elba as the main villain opposite John Cho, Simon Pegg, Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Zoe Saldana, Karl Urban, and Anton Yelchin.
