John Mayer Admits He Was a Jerk with Old Girlfriends

It takes a strong person to come clean about one's faults but after years of being dubbed Hollywood's resident playboy, John Mayer admitted he wasn't exactly boyfriend of the year.

The 35-year-old who is currently seeing international pop star,Katy Perry is on the brink of a comeback after being forced to leave the music world due to a near career ending injury on his vocal chords. During his time away, the Gravity singer has had some time to think. In a CBS' Sunday Morning interview with Anthony Mason, Mayer is coming clean about his ways with women. The interview will air Sun, Feb 10 and 9AM ET.

Mayer's public relationships seemed to crash and burn right in front of eyes of the world. Some of the famous notches on his belt include Jennifer Love Hewitt, Jessica Simpson, Jennifer Aniston, Taylor Swift and Minka Kelly, to name a few.

In the CBS interview, Mayer said it was hard being judged, but now he feels liberated. "It's very liberating when you realize it's impossible to make everyone like you. I wanted everybody to like me. I thought I was one shuck and jive away in every direction", he said.

Mayer was never shy about his romantic trysts, even telling Playboy magazine intimate details about his sexual experiences with ex-girlfriend, Jessica Simpson. In the 2010 interview he referred to Simpson as "sexual napalm" and "crack cocaine."

In 2010, Taylor Swift famously penned a break up song about Mayer titled Dear John, which appeared on her Speak Now album. Swift's words cut him deep as he told Rolling Stone Magazine he felt humiliated and terrible about the song. "Because I didn't deserve it. I'm pretty good at taking accountability now, and I never did anything to deserve that. It was a really lousy thing for her to do," he told the magazine.

About his relationships with Simpson and others he said, "I was a jerk."

Mayer also briefly opens up about his current relationship with Katy Perry, who he's dated off and on since June 2012.
