Ice Cube Voting Kanye West For President: 'Straight Outta Compton' Producer Supports Rapper

Ice Cube will be voting for Kanye West in his presidential campaign, as the Straight Outta Compton producer showed his support for the rapper. Just last week, the Yeezus musician revealed on the 2015 MTV VMA’s that he will be running for president in 2020, and has received many different responses. As far as celebrity endorsements, it looks like he will be able to count on the veteran rapper to be one of them.

In a new interview with the Daily Mail, the former N.W.A. member spoke on West’s future presidential campaign. "I'm voting for Kanye. Why not? Who's better than Kanye to run,” he tells the outlet.

He was also asked whether he would consider being West’s running mate, to which he had quite the shut-down response. "No, I'm not into politics like that. I'm into helping my people get over the hump. I ain't got time to help everybody. We got a lot of work to do."

On top of addressing the potential of Yeezy becoming President in the future, Cube also shared his thoughts on the situation making Kim Kardashian the First Lady of America. "It's cool. If that's what it is, that's what it is," he explained. "No matter who is the President, you gotta all get up and go to work in the morning,” he confesses.

West’s presidential speech became the center of controversy and headlines all last week, after he not only revealed his desire to run for President, but also called out MTV and awards shows for their antics to pull in ratings. The rapper acknowledged the concept of having Taylor Swift present him his award, and that it was more for ratings and shock value, rather than honoring him, as the two have been portrayed to be in a feud by the media for years following him interrupting her VMA’s speech in 2009.
