Yesterday, Sept. 8, was Serena Williams' biggest match win of the U.S. Open. She played against Venus Williams and outlasted her older sister, making her way to the 2015 tennis Semifinals.

According to SB Nation, the number-1 seed, Serena, had 12 aces in her victory over number 23, Venus, making this her second win against her older sister in two meetings this season. Serena also beat Venus 6-4, 6-3 in the Wimbledon quarterfinals. The two sisters have now met a total of 27 times in their career, with Serena prevailing 11 times out 27. Serena improved to 3-2 all-time against her sister at the U.S. Open, having also won the 2002 final and 2008 quarterfinal.

Prior to the tournament, Serena said, "She always won. Like always. I just remember I never was able to beat her" (in reference to her sister, Venus). Serena also claimed, "She has beaten me so many times. She's a player that knows how to win, knows how to beat me and knows my weaknesses better than anyone." But yesterday changed everything; Serena outlasted older sister Venus in less than two hours, 6-2, 1-6, 6-3.

According to Yahoo Sports, Serena played solidly in the first set, but fell apart in the second set, as Venus pulled through with a break-point opportunity at 2-1 in the second set. The third set is what changed history for the Williams sisters. Serena returned to form and saved break-point at 2-0, which soon enough became 5-2. Venus may have owned one set, but Serena owned the night.

"She was at an unbelievable level today," Serena said afterwards. "It's probably the toughest match I have played in a really, really, really long time where I wasn't actually beating myself. I was out there facing an incredibly tough opponent."

"It's a really great moment. She's the toughest person I've ever played in my life and the best person I know," Serena said in her on-court interview after the win. "It was really difficult today."
