Police Chief accused of falsely signing off Chris Brown's community service hours has resigned. Richmond, Virginia chief of police Bryan Norwood was accused of keeping horrible records of Brown's community service after signing off Brown's log as completed when he couldn't have possibly done them.

The R&B singer was sentenced to 180 day for the beating his girlfriend, Rihanna in 2009 in Los Angeles. The singer noted on the community service logs as to have completed 220 days- more than what was expected- and has recently been to court to deny faking his time. With Norwood's resignation, Brown's lawyer may have to find a way to dig him out of this deep hole. Mayor Dwight Jones announced, "As of today I've accepted the resignation of Bryan Norwood from his post as chief of police for the city of Richmond," he added, "He has offered leadership that has brought us a little bit further in our endeavors to improve public safety. In many ways the Richmond Police Department and the city is better off because of his dedication."

Norwood will be replaced by Ray Tarasovic, who was asked to come out of retirement to become police chief, "We've reached, however, a mutual agreement, at this time, that his time as Richmond police chief has come to an end," Jones said of Norwood. "We certainly wish Chief Norwood much luck in his endeavors going forward."

Earlier we reported, the singer worked his community hours in his hometown of Tappahannock at the Children's Center where his mother was once a director. The bad boy of R&B painted, washed windows, waxed floors, cut grass and picked up trash. TMZ had obtained files which claims the Richmond P.D. admitted to only supervising the singer on 9 or 10 occasions and wasn't watched all the other dates.

The D.A. is claiming Chris and Norwood had a prior relationship. Inn addition, Brown's attorney, Mark Geragos, "instructed" the Richmond P.D. lawyer on how to "handle" D.A. questions about Chris' community service. Geragos is seeking sanctions from the District Attorney's Office for the "frivolous, scurrilous and frankly defamatory motion," filings and says their motions for to revoke his probation as "shameful and a disgrace."
