We are now living in a post-Spygate and Deflategate world. New England Patriots Quarterback Tom Brady is in a position where the people who were supposed to be his friends in the NFL front office are his enemies, and the men he goes to battle with on the field are his allies. The outspoken cornerback for the Seattle Seahawks, Richard Sherman, lost to Brady in the Super Bowl and now he is one of those allies. Sherman told reporters he thought the original 4-game suspension was too much and that he was glad the whole thing got overturned.

"I think it's great for him and great for their organization to have him back," Sherman said. "But it's just guys getting justice, guys not being persecuted for things they didn't do, getting a fair trial of sorts. A lot of times in this league, it's guilty until proven innocent sometimes. And it's good to see guys be able to get a fair trial. Unfortunately, it had to go so long. But it is what it is."

Sherman called the suspension's lift "justice" because when the Deflategate investigation first went down, Brady was persecuted without a fair trial. He went on to say that this will bring about change in how punishments are doled out. Not only did Sherman take issue with how Brady was treated, he also was against how some players are punished and then punished once again for the same NFL violation.

"Obviously, certain players have been disciplined and re-disciplined," Sherman said. "And obviously we've seen how the trials have gone, but I think that amongst a few other things are in line for the next CBA. And I'm sure owners have their own list of things that they want to talk about. But that's a few years away."

More than the front office and certainly more than the fans, nobody understands how to win games more than a field general the likes of Sherman. He says the most important part of the game is all 11 players on the field working together in unison. It doesn't matter how much film you look at.

"So if you're studying the game the right way, you go out there understanding what plays are coming, and you know when the plays are coming. But can you execute? Can 11 guys stop the other 11 from executing their play?"

The best line in Sherman's defense of Brady is probably when he got into his views on cheating.

"Like they say, if you didn't get caught, then it wasn't cheating," Sherman said.
