Thor's Tom Hiddleston is finding his way into a much different role than we are all used to seeing him in, playing legendary country artist Hank Williams in his upcoming film, I Saw the Light. "On Friday night at the Toronto International Film Festival, after as many online teasers and murmurs as you'll find for a specialty-film performance, Hiddleston unveiled himself as the country legend. With nearly a dozen No. 1 hits., Williams, of course, was one of the most influential songwriters in history. He died in 1953 at the age of 29 from heart failure partly brought on by substance addictions," L.A. Times reports. This is an unexpected turn in his career since Hiddleston first gained attention as the evil Loki, Thor's brother, in not only the Thor films, but other Marvel films as well like The Avengers. Hiddleston really got into character and had to drop some bulk from his frame for the role. IMDB reports that in order to get "pencil-thin," he "ran ten miles and cycled 15 miles every day."

Marc Abraham (Flash Genius), who is known to typically produce action movies, makes an interesting directorial choice for I Saw the Light. The film is "based on the nonfiction book by Colin Escott - features the usual ups, downs, binge-drinking and womanizing of your typical artist's biography, with lots of screen time devoted to Williams's extremely rocky marriage to wife Audrey, played with zest by Elizabeth Olsen (swapping her own Avengers attire for a full country western wardrobe)," Yahoo! News says. Hiddleston really "endeared himself to the cast and crew," IMDB reports. By his "graciousness for everyone's hard work and serenading the entire cast and crew at the piano" in between takes, and thanking everyone "from the janitors to his costars" every day made it seem as though he was the perfect guy for the part. He morphs his native British accent to the twang of Hank's infamous voice.
