'Empire' Season 2 PHOTO: Taraji P. Henson's Cookie Lyon Meets Marisa Tomei's Mimi Whiteman!

Viewers are anxious for the highly anticipated Season 2 of Empire on Fox. In the newly released photo, check out Mimi Whiteman (Marisa Tomei) as she meets her possible love interest with Cookie Lyon (Taraji P. Henson) during the September premiere?

As we previously mentioned, Luscious (Howard) is a hip hop mogul who's interested in taking his company public and passing the torch to one of his three kids. Cookie (Henson), the ex-matriarch of the wealthy family who has just been released from prison. The company is divided between the aspiring Jamal (Jussie Smollett), playboy rapper Hakeem (Bryshere Gray), and business savvy Andre (Trai Byers).

During the season finale, Vernon was murdered by Andre and his pregnant wife, Rhonda (Kaitlin Doubleday). Though Jamal has earned the company, Anika (Grace Gealey) has setup a hostile takeover against him. From beyond the grave, Vernon got his revenge for Bunkyie. Arrested for murder, Luscious was last seen in a prison cell, thinking his own wife and kids set him up.

As we mentioned before, the My Cousin Vinny  actress has signed on for a multi-episode arc. The Wrestler actress has landed the role of Mimi Whiteman, a demanding venture capitalist. Whiteman becomes involved in the Lyon family drama. As a Forbes list billionairess, Mimi is described as "a lover of hip hop music, social trends, high-end fashion and beautiful women."

According to TV Line, Fox has released a first-look at the Oscar-winning actress as her demanding, fashion-conscious billionaire. Whiteman appears to be cozying up pretty tightly to Cookie in the image, don't you think? Could it be more than just flirtascious chatting between the lesbian venture capitalist and Luscious' on-and-off again squeeze.

Entertainment Weekly has learned that Vivica A. Fox will be appearing on the sophomore season as the oldest sister of Cookie (Henson). As the Kill Bill actress makes her appearance in episode eight, executive producer Ilene Chaiken teases, "Cookie's other family members are troublesome to say the least."

Season 2 of Empire will premiere on Fox Wednesday, September 23 at 9pm .
