Kim Kardashian and Kanye West were trying to head back to Los Angeles from the JFK airport when they ran into problems with Transportation Security Administration. The couple was at the airport coming back from their trip from Rio de Janeiro trying to catch a connecting flight heading to L.A.

According to TMZ, an airline greeter let the famous couple skip a security checkpoint so they could catch their flight. Eventually, TSA asked the seated couple to get back off the plane to conduct a procedure security check, which delayed the flight for an hour. American Airlines blamed the hour delay on themselves saying, "This was a lapse in judgment by one of our employees." The airline added, "We're working closely with the TSA and speaking to the individuals involved to better understand what happened." They continued, "It was delayed in part ... because a number of connecting bags were delayed getting to the aircraft."

TSA is conducting an investigation after the TSA violated rules, "An airline employee escorted the two travelers through a non-public area in order to provide expedited access to their domestic flight." The TSA employee added, "In doing so, the airline employee violated security protocols by permitting the travelers to by-pass the TSA security checkpoint. TSA officials learned of the violation and conducted a private screening of the two passengers in the area of the jetway. The passengers were cleared to board their flight, which departed after a delay of approximately 50 minutes. TSA is actively investigating the incident," the employee told TMZ.
