Brian Williams Angry with NBC [VIDEO]: 'Rock Center' Moved to Friday Nights, Anchor Mad, Makes Amusing Piece on Shows "Journey"

Brian Williams was reportedly angry with NBC over changes to "Rock Center," and aired a sarcastic video in regards to the "journey" the show has taken. In the clip, Williams addresses how his show went from timeslot to timeslot over the last 16 months. The feel of the report is definitely humorous but many people are looking into it a little more than that. Past the joking nature, it seems like Williams is honestly angry with NBC for what the show has gone through.

"Rock Center with Brian Williams" debuted on Monday October 31^st, 2011. It was the first new NBC News program to launch in primetime since 1993's "Now with Tom Brokaw and Katie Couric." The show kept this Monday slot up until January 30, 2012. Its first move was to Wednesday nights and then Thursday nights. "Rock Center" started with a multiple story format then moved on to a single story format and is a more serious newsmagazine in comparison to "Dateline NBC." NBC announced that "Rock Center" had been taken off the schedule due to low ratings on May 10, 2012. Just 3 days later, it was announced that the show would be renewed for a second season. That brings us to the most recent timeslot change for "Rock Center:" Friday nights at 10PM. The February 8^th airing of the show garnered high ratings with 5.3 million viewers.

So this move might have upset Williams. With a lack of promotion, abandoned plans of multiple weekly airings, and "musical chairs"- like scheduling, it is easy to see why he could be in a bad mood. Williams closed last week's episode with a segment comparing the new time slot to a "final resting place" for the show. It also chronicled the many moves the show has taken through the week. Williams' video segment even mentions television shows responsible for the low rating of "Rock Center" including ABC's "Castle," "Modern Family," and FOX's "American Idol." It was all very comical, but maybe included a pinch of cynicism.

 "Rock Center" executive producer, Alexandra Wallace, issued the following statement about the segment and the rumors of Williams' anger:

"Brian's take on our new time slot was truly funny and the furthest thing from 'angry.' He made light of our travels through the schedule -- and we are all thrilled by Rock Center's strong ratings after our Friday night debut. We look forward to settling down in our new home."
