A 10-year-old student at Fort Colville Elementary School was discovered with a knife and gun in his backpack. According to authorities, two fifth-grade boys planned to kill another student, "because she was really annoying."

Last week, the boys confessed to plotting to kill the girl and other classmates. According to Stevens County prosecuting attorney Timothy Rasmussen, "This was a plan. And it was a plan to kill." The boys then promised another student $80 if he didn't tell anyone. Rasmussen argued that the 10 and 11-year old boys be charged with conspiracy to commit first-degree murder and witness tampering.

A fourth grader told a teacher that he had seen a knife in one of the boys backpack and the teacher searched it immediately and found a knife with a 3¼-inch blade, a .45-caliber Remington 1911 semiautomatic handgun and an ammunition clip.

The 11-year-old admitted the plans to authorities saying, "I was going to kill her with the knife and [the other boy] was supposed to use the gun to keep anyone from trying to stop me or mess up our plan."

The authorities showed the boy a list of classmates and continued to point out more students he wanted to kill. The boy went on about how he was the girl's friend, "but that he hated her now." He said the girl "had recently become rude and would pick on him."
