Terrence Howard shed light on his childhood trauma, where the Empire actor recalls his rough upbringing that has impacted his love life today. The award-winning actor did a new interview with Rolling Stone, and many of the answers were quite bizarre on Howard’s part before diving into some of the tougher topics surrounding his past. The Hollywood star not only spoke on the recent domestic violence allegations against him, but he even opened up on the heartbreak he experienced as a child, as his father was arrested for a murder that he witnessed.

His father, Tyrone, became the center of national news headlines when he stabbed a man to death for cutting his family in line to meet Santa Clause at a department store in Cleveland. His dad was charged with second-degree murder, and went away for 11 months.

“I was standing next to my father, watching. Then stuff happened so quickly – blood was on the coats, on our jackets – and then my dad’s on a table and then my dad is gone to prison,” Howard recalls in the interview.

Despite the traumatizing incident, the two maintained a relationship over the years, with his dad offering tons of advice.

Also in the interview, Howard admits to putting his hands on his first ex-wife, Lori McCommas, after he was arrested for disorderly conduct following him breaking into her house and punching her.

“She was talking to me real strong and I lost my mind and slapped her in front of the kids. Her lawyer says it was a closed fist, but even slapping her was wrong,” he revealed.

Since the incident, Howard has faced many accounts of violence, including a Continental Airlines flight attendant, a woman and her boyfriend in a diner in Pennsylvania, and then his second wife, Michelle Ghant. The ex-wife of the actor seeked out a restraining order on him following their divorce, which has involved a court case of audio recordings, extortion, threats, abuse, and much more.

More recently, Howard married his third wife, Mira Pak, after three weeks of dating, but divorced after two years of marriage. She even recalled some insight onto him during the same interview.

“He’s so selfish. But, you know, he didn’t have much of a childhood. It was difficult for him being picked on and bullied all the time. We don’t have a normal life,” she mentioned.
