A few days before Oprah Winfrey's big interview with Beyonce Knowles, OWN released two clips from their one-on-one chat in which the singer gushed on how her husband Jay-Z has helped her "on so many levels."

When Winfrey asked the Run The World singer to elaborate on her marriage, the 31-year-old said it was their friendship that laid the foundation for their relationship.

We were friends first for a year and a half before when we went on any dates. On the phone...And that is so important in a foundation in a relationship," Knowles said.

"You balance being the fierce woman with obviously a woman who adores and loves her man," Winfrey said.

"Absolutely," Beyonce said before speaking about her husband.

Knowles and Jay-Z wed in 2006 and has been a couple since 2002. Although the two never confirmed their relationship while dating, the couple seemed to have taken some advice about their relationship status from Winfrey.

In the clip, Winfrey recalled a piece of advice she gave Knowles years ago while The Oprah Winfrey Show was on air, telling her to never tellpeople who she was dating.

"I took it as far as I could take it!" Knowles responded.

Knowles credited her husband, saying, "Just knowing someone's always going to be honest and tell the truth...[who] can understand exactly what I'm going through-and I can understand exactly what he's going through."

"I would not be the woman I am if I did not go home to that man," she said. "And just to have someone you like."

Knowles debuted her documentary Life Is But A Dream Tuesday night at Ziegfeld Theatre in New York City. The film takes a no-holds barred look at the various moments in the Countdown singer's life, detailing her miscarriage, rumors of her faking her pregnancy and firing her father as her manager.

"I really grew so much," Knowles said. "This movie has really been my therapy. I've healed from so many wounds and I've been able to understand why some of the things I've been through, why I went through, so feel really proud, and hopefully I can inspire other people."

Winfrey's interview with Knowles for Oprah's Next Chapter will air on Saturday, Feb. 16, at 8/7 p.m. Central on OWN.
