Pop star Lady Gaga's injury that led to the cancellation of her tour, "Born This Way Ball" will cost the singer more than $30 million in refunds.

The singer had to perform in 22 venues and all were cancelled as she had to undergo a hip surgery resulting from her injury. Now Pollstar data estimates that the refunds for these shows in Canada and U.S. will cost her $30 million. According to Billboard, around 200,000 tickets have been already sold.

"It was definitely a blow," said Bernie Punt, sales and marketing director for the Bryce Jordan Center at Pennsylvania State University. "Trust me, I've been hearing nothing for the past 48 hours of so many saddened fans that were looking forward to this. Everybody bought those tickets for Christmas or Hanukkah gifts."

Gaga was forced to cancel her tour after the injury, Feb. 14. According to Pollstar estimates she made $161.4 million out of the 2012 world tour. Gaga completed her Asian, European, and South American legs in 2012. The only remaining was the North American leg.

"The entertainment business intersects with the realities of life, and the glamorous perception of what touring is like is replaced by the reality that it's tough. It's tough for anybody, but the more physical performer, and she certainly is one, it's that much tougher. I feel terrible for her; it's a difficult situation. But it's just one of those things that can't be controlled, and we just deal with what we have to deal with," said Arthur Fogel of Live Nation to Billboard.

While her official website, Littlemonsters put out this message, "Live Nation Global Touring has confirmed that the remainder of the Lady Gaga Born This Way Ball performances have been cancelled."

"After additional tests this morning to review the severity of the issue, it has been determined that Lady Gaga has a labral tear of the right hip. She will need surgery to repair the problem, followed by strict down time to recover. This unfortunately, will force her to cancel the tour, so she can heal. "

"Refunds for the cancelled performances will be available at point of purchase starting Feb 14, 2013."

Gaga or her promoter, Live Nation, will not be having any financial burden to pay for the refunds as the tour was cancelled due to doctor's orders and hence applicable for insurance.

Gaga had Tweeted earlier that she was "completely devastated and heartsick" asking her fans for forgiveness.

Her third album "ARTPOP" is set to release later this year.
