Taylor Swift Sued After She Kept $2.5 Million From a Cancelled Canada Event

Country singer Taylor Swift is embroiled in a lawsuit because she did not return the $2.5 million that she was paid by an events promotion company for her cancelled show in Canada.

Swift was set to perform at the country music event at Capital Hoedown, in Ottawa in August 2012 but the concert got cancelled and Swift held onto her fee.

The lawsuit was filed in the New York federal court. The concert promoters claimed that they have to refund the money to the people who bought the tickets, running up to $1.8 million. Since Swift never really performed at the place she should give back the money.

Swift's representatives argued that she never signed any deal with the ticket company and moreover has yet not seen the lawsuit so it will take a while for the ticket company to get their money so that they can refund it.

She will be heading to London to perform at the 2013 BRIT Awards.

A source told The Sun that, "Taylor is a huge fan of British music. She was over the moon when she found out Mumford & Sons were going, because she had Babel on repeat for months."

She also has to face her former boyfriend Harry Styles of One Direction at the BRIT Awards.
