As Donald Trump's presidential campaign (surprisingly) gets higher and higher in regards to approval ratings, much talk has been had about who will play the Republican frontrunner when Saturday Night Live premieres Season 41. Finally, we have our answer: Taran Killam.

It's being reported by Deadline that when Miley Cyrus takes to the SNL stage on Oct. 3 to host the premiere, Killam will get into character and play the former Celebrity Apprentice star.

Of course, given the summer Trump has had – it's hard to believe he announced his candidacy just three months ago – we're assuming the new season will kick off with a sketch surrounding the Republican candidate.

Seriously, what else could it start with?

Off to rehearsal. Can't remember being this excited to go to work. #SNL40

The choice to have Killam take the Trump character is rather surprising considering Darrell Hammond, who famously played Donald Trump for years, is now the announcer for the show. But perhaps executive producer Lorne Michaels decided to give it to another key player after Hammond was canned from his Kentucky Fried Chicken commercials because he was reportedly too creepy playing Colonel Sanders.

Trump won't be the only impression Killam will be known for nailing. In the past, he's been seen playing the likes of Brad Pitt, Tom Brady, Piers Morgan, and Matthew McConaughey, to name a brief few.

Two weeks from today, we’re back. #SNL A photo posted by Saturday Night Live - SNL (@nbcsnl) on Sep 19, 2015 at 5:30pm PDT
