For all of those people out there who love the selfie, stop it! Seriously, it could kill you. In fact, it's being reported that you're more likely to die from taking a selfie than a shark attack.

Yahoo! is reporting that more people have died in 2015 from selfie-attempts than from shark attacks. The latest news comes with a 66-year-old Japanese tourist who fell down some stairs while trying to take a photo of himself at the Royal Gate of the Taj Mahal. He reportedly fell down the stairs, sustained serious head injuries and lost consciousness.

And then died.

Additionally, his friend fractured a leg, according to the report.

The above isn't the first time something like this has happened; we all remember that guy who was killed while trying to nab a photo of himself during the running of the bulls in Spain? Yep, he died.

Of course, that guy who tried taking a selfie while wrapping a rattlesnake around his head lived. But he did get a pretty serious bite and may lose his hand.

Which makes sense because he tried taking a GD selfie with a GD rattlesnake wrapped around his GD neck!

Anyway, the story is a pretty terrifying one if you think about it. Mashable reports that in 2015, selfies have been the cause of more deaths and mishaps than shark attacks. Right now, selfie deaths/injuries hover around 12 while shark attacks are more so in the 8-ish area.

So, seriously, the next time you take out that selfie stick and people tell you to put it away, it's not because you look incredibly ridiculous (which, by the way, you do), it's because they're trying to save your life.
