Rock metal band, Metallica has said that it did not ask the U.S. military to remove their music from detainee interrogation program, Feb.18.

Metallica has denied any contact with the military for the removal of their music from being used by what has been called as "torture" or "enhanced interrogation techniques."  The band posted a message calling it "clearing the air" on their website where the band said that, "There has been a lot of talk recently about us asking the military not to use our music to 'soften people up before interrogation.' We NEVER commented to the military either way on this matter. Any statements that have been made otherwise are not correct."

A Navy SEAL (identified as Shooter), who reportedly killed Osama Bin Laden, had told in a recent interview that Metallica had asked their music be removed after they came to know that it was used to "soften up" detainees before interrogation as the band was not ready to promote violence through their music.

"Part of me is proud because they chose Metallica. And then part of me is kind of bummed about it that people worry about us being attached to some political statement because of that. We've got nothing to do with this and we're trying to be as apolitical as possible, 'cause I think politics and music, at least for us, don't mix," said lead vocalist of Metallica, James Hetfield.
