New Orleans rapper C-Murder will continue to serve life imprisonment after his appeal was rejected by the Supreme Court.

This was a desperate attempt to save the 41-year-old rapper from life imprisonment but the rejection from Supreme Court has given a heavy blow to the rapper's chances of getting out of prison.

His attorneys had argued that for a criminal case, the jury has to reach unanimous verdict to convict an alleged murderer, however, in the case of rapper C-Murder, the jury had voted 10-2.

Louisiana is one of the only two states that allows non-unanimous convictions.

The rapper was sentenced after he was convicted of shooting and killing a 16-year-old fan, Steve Thomas, at a nightclub in 2002. He was sentenced to prison in 2009. The appeal was filed in Louisiana by C-Murder's lawyers in 2011. But it was rejected by Louisiana appeals court. Later he moved his appeal to the Supreme Court in 2012 that rejected his appeal.

The rapper, whose real name is Corey Miller, has eight studio albums to his credit.
