Reports confirm that former Miss Universe Leila Lopes got engaged to New York Giants defensive end Osi Umenyiora over a romantic dinner in Atlanta last week. The New York Post broke the engagement news earlier this week, and reports that the couple is aiming for a 2014 wedding. On Feb. 12, the NFL star tweeted a picture of the duo locked in an adorable embrace with the caption, "My beautiful fiancée." The couple is now celebrating their engagement by traveling Italy with family.

Stunning 26-year-old Lopes, originally from Angola, was crowned Miss Universe in 2011. She became only the fourth African to win the crown in the beauty event's the 60-year history.

The New York Post reports that the couple met during Fashion Week last year, when publicist and New York-based Coleman Entertainment Group president BJ Coleman introduced them. They had their first date at the classy NYC restaurant Phillippe, and have been dating ever since.

As suggested by Umenyiora's Twitter timeline, the couple jetted off to Europe following the proposal, and have been sight-seeing with family the past week:
