Marguerite Joseph, a 104-year-old Michigan woman who loves to keep in touch with family and friends throughout the country on Facebook, was forced to lie about her age on the popular networking site because it evidently does not allow users over 99-years-old to use its services. Unlike several other people, Joseph really wants people to know her true age, and is hoping that Facebook can fix its glitch so she can flaunt her 104 years of life loud and proud. The cyber-masterminds over at Facebook recently apologized for the inconvenience, and are working on fixing the site's age limitations.

Joseph, who is legally blind and hard of hearing, has been an active member of the online social networking community for the past few years. Her granddaughter Gail Marlow updates her profile page everyday and responds to her grandmother's incoming messages and posts. As Joseph's Facebook description reads:

I was actually born on April 19, 1908 which makes me 104 years old but Facebook wouldn't let me enter in a date that goes back that far. I am a native of Coniston, Ontario and was married to John Joseph Sr. who passed away in 2000. I have 5 Children-Shirley Marlow, John Jr., Roger, Francis and Peter, who died of leukemia. I have 12 Grandchildren and several Great Grandchildren. I am a wealth of knowledge and history and love to tell my stories. You can read the article that was written about me and my 100th Birthday here. P.S. Due to my eyesight, my Granddaughter Gail is in charge of all my postings and responses. She reads me my public and private messages regularly.

Whenever Marlow tries to change her grandmother's age on the account, she receives the message, "unknown error."

But that hasn't stopped Joseph from enjoying the cyber wonders of Facebook. Her profile states that the spunky elderly is an avid fan of the Detroit Tigers, "I Love Lucy," and gambling (she loves taking trips to the casino). When not spending time or talking to family on Facebook, she shops, attends Church at least once a week, and of course works on her fitness...

Joseph currently has 198 friends and close to 100 pictures posted.

During a recent interview with WDIV-TV, Marlow said she tried sending a few messages to Facebook head-honcho Mark Zuckerberg in order to fix the problem. She has yet to receive a response.

A Facebook spokesman recently released this statement after Joseph's age predicament went viral:

"We've recently discovered an issue whereby some Facebook users may be unable to enter a birthday before 1910... We are working on a fix for this and we apologize for the inconvenience."

According to Marlow, hopefully the "glitch" in the system can be attended to soon: "I would love to see her real age on Facebook. I mean, in April she's going to be 105. It's special."
