Jill Scott and her Blues Babe Foundation are partnering with Hallmark in order to give away two scholarships to young writing students. The Woman singer is teaming up with the greeting card company’s Mahogany brand in order to provide two $10,000 scholarships to undergraduate students that are pursuing degrees in areas of writing.

Students who qualify will have to currently be studying full-time at an accredited four-year college or university. The two students who win the scholarships will be able to go to a three-day, all-expenses-paid workshop at Hallmark’s headquarters in Kansas City this upcoming spring and summer season.

Scott spoke on the incredible opportunity and partnership in a statement, where she remarked on how meaningful it was to her.

“To be able to give inner-city students the opportunity to receive a scholarship and pursue a career in writing is phenomenal. My love and passion for writing is reflected in my music and my poetry and I am sincerely grateful that Mahogany decided to partner with the Blues Babe Foundation to help nurture young creative minds,” she explained.

Those who are able to take part in the three-day workshop will be working to hone their craft and fully immerse themselves into the daily experiences of a Mahogany writer. Mahogany is also set to stop by Camp Jill Scott in the summertime, which caters to underserved middle school students in Philadelphia. They will be promoting the importance of education and teach campers essential creative writing skills through a series of fun activities they can take part in.

The Vice President of Multicultural Strategy at Hallmark Cards, Tara Frank, stated, "Our greeting cards' messages are rooted in inspiration, positivity and cultural connection, This partnership provides an avenue for us to put that message into action – nationally and locally – and we're excited to partner with Ms. Scott's Blues Babe Foundation to do so. We hope that our shared vision leads to rewarding and enriching opportunities for college-bound students."
