Round two for American Idols' new sudden death feature proved to be just as eventful for the men Thursday night as it was for the women on Wednesday. Five men were sent home Thursday evening in Las Vegas at The Mirage Hotel, while five moved onto the next round.

The first to sing was Paul Jolly who made an always gutsy call of singing one of the judges songs. Jolly song Keith Urban's "Tonight I Wanna Cry." The judges were split, which left record executive Jimmy Lovine to make the final decision. Despite some criticism of over performing the song, Lovine put Jolly through to the next round.

Both Curtis Finch Jr. and Devin Velez put on solid performances that put both through to the next round. Finch sang a gospel version of Luther Vandross' "Superstar", which prompted Nicki Minaj to say, "You know damn well you're going through."

Meanwhile, Velez performed Beyonce's "Listen." Velez began the song in English and switched to Spanish, which for people like myself who can only speak one language, is impressive enough to go onto the next round.

18-year-old Elijah Liu sang Bruno Mars' "Talking to the Moon" and gave a good enough rendition to get passed this sudden death round.

JDA, easily the performer with the most stage presence, performed Adele's "Rumor Has It." Unfortunately his singing just wasn't up to par and he was sent home at the end of the night.

Chris Watson was also sent home, despite delivering a performance of "Sitting on the Dock of the Bay" that had Nicki Minaj gushing.

Joining JDA and Watson on the train out of Vegas included Jimmy Smith, Johnny Keyser, and Kevin Harris. The five male contestants moving on to the next round are Curtis Fitz Jr., Elijah Liu, Paul Jolly, Charlie Askew (who performed Elton John's "Rocket Man" and broke out of his shell), and Devin Velez.

So there you have it, another American Idol sudden death round in the books. Next week fans will get two more nights of sudden death rounds. What do Mstarz fans think, did the Idol judges get the picks right last night? Comment below.
