Erin Andrews straight up embarrassed rapper 50 Cent at the Daytona 500 by dodging a kiss resulting in one of the most awkward exchanges in the history of televised sports during the Daytona 500. While searching for NASCAR star Danica Patrick, the 34-year-old Andrews spots the 37-year-old rap star and attempts to get the moment on camera. Unfortunately for Erin, the rapper turned actor (born Curtis Jackson) had something else in mind: a kiss. Sure it might have been fine, but Andrews was clearly trying to avoid it with everything she had which resulted in at least 2 full head turns and then a long smooch on her left cheek. The best part is that Andrews immediately continued her quest to find Patrick with 50 Cent following right behind her for some reason.
Like I said: AWKWARD. To be fair to the G-Unit star, it looked like he was just being friendly. A kiss on the cheek is definitely a formal greeting that you see on television a lot even if the relationship between the two is not that familiar. Clearly Andrews was just uncomfortable. Her exit from the situation made it even more uncomfortable for viewers but then the rapper tagging along added to the seemingly endless awkwardness. Luckily Jackson is a professional entertainer who is charismatic and quick on his feet, so when you break down the incident, he does not come off as creepy at all. Maybe a little weird, but definitely still fine in the eyes of the public. Though the fact that he followed Andrews was made worse when she cannot find Danica Patrick, thanks 50 Cent for just being there, and then sends it back to FOX headquarters without any more on air interaction between the two. Following a few comments to the rapper/actor on Twitter in regards to the event, Jackson tweeted a response, "Hey I wanted to kiss her, so I did." Good Job, 50. This was obviously a strange situation and you seem to be handling the aftermath well. Though, the Get Rich or Die Tryin' star has been responding to other tweets regarding the event, saying he is sad that the media is saying Erin Andrews had dissed him.
This "missed kiss" incident is being compared to the most infamous live smooch attempt from a drunken Joe Namath and sportscaster Suzy Kolber. The football legend was being questioned about the Jets during a 2003 game where he was being honored. Clearly drunk, Namath got very close to Kolber and said, "I want to kiss you." She laughed off the line and is now a part of the weirdest moments in sports' history.
