Tyra Banks Announces 'ANTM' End, Cycle 22 Will Be Last Season

It is the end of an era as we know it. It has just been revealed that after 22 cycles of America's Next Top Model (ANTM) that Tyra Banks is putting an end to the modeling competition. The longtime host of the series, and one of the biggest supermodels in the game has decided that when she crowns the new winner of the series that it will be the show's last. The series, which has jump-started the careers of many fashion models, actress and event reality TV hosts, has also been home to some of the biggest names in the fashion world as judges, including Janice Dickinson, Twiggy, Nigel Barker and Jay Alexander.

Tyra posted on her Instagram account earlier today to reveal the news by posting a lengthy caption thanking both the fans of the series, as well as listing all the amazing things that Top Model has done for the careers of so many, and also the world of fashion in general.

In addition to her thanks, the star posted a picture of the number "22" with a reminder for fans to always channel their inner model, even though the series is ending.

In addition to the Instagram post, Tyra also took to her Twitter account to announce the end of the era, writing, "TYRA MAIL! Thinking #ANTM22 should be our last cycle. I truly believe it's time. May your pics be forever fierce. Keep on Smizing!"

E! News is reporting on the story saying that The CW is expected to end the show with a series finale on Friday, December 4 and that they are expected to air a special that will take a look back at the last 22 seasons of the show, sometime in 2016.
