ABC's summer cop drama Rookie Blue is canceled after six seasons. The news does not come as a surprise following the series' low ratings this past season. With the ultimate Season 6 finale where main characters Officer Andy McNally (Missy Peregrym) and Detective Sam Swarek (Ben Bass) get married, the series' production team is ready to move on after the show's 74-episode run.

"On behalf of the whole Rookie Blue family, thank you to all the fans for your dedication over the last six years," said Rookie Blue creator Ilana Frank in a statement.

"After six fun and dramatic seasons, our story has come to its natural close. Alongside you all, it has been our privilege to watch Andy McNally develop from a young rookie to a distinguished officer. On behalf of eOne and ICF Films, I want to recognize the talented Missy Peregrym, Ben Bass, Greg Smith and the entire ensemble cast and crew who worked passionately and tirelessly to bring the characters and stories to life. Thank you to our broadcast partners Shaw Media and ABC for all of your support. As we say goodbye to 15 Division, the ICF Films team is already underway on our next project with eOne and Shaw Media and we are looking forward to sharing more exciting news in the near future."

The series was executive produced by Tassie Cameron, Russ Cochrane, Frank, David Wellington and John Morayniss.

Rookie Blue followed the lives of rookie cops at 15 Division in Toronto. Actors Peregrym, Gregory Smith, Bass, Travis Milne, Enuka Okuma and Charlotte Sullivan lead the cast through a series of intense storylines over the years.

Rumors about the impending cancellation started when Season 6 production began filming without longtime Cameron who moved on to pursue other opportunities. Eone's new deal with Frank will have the studio act as both deficit financier and distributor of new projects created by ICF films.
