This past week, infamous R&B heartthrob Usher got a very special treat for his 37th birthday. Not only did he get to spend the night of his birthday performing at the White House, but Barack and Michelle Obama presented him with a cup cake and teamed up to lead a happy birthday song sing-a-long in his honor!

A "Happy Birthday" sing-a-long conducted by the President of the United States? That one's sure to leave a lasting impression! According to EW, Usher attended the White House last week to participate in In Performance at the White House. The performance, which is said to be an "all-star music tribute celebrating the cultural resonance of art and literature in unique American musical form," included performances from notable celebrities like Queen Latifah and Smokey Robinson.

Usher, whose birthday just so happened to fall on the same night as the event, was given the pleasant surprise of being presented with a birthday cupcake by the president and first lady afterwards. To make it just that much better, the Obama's, along with a group of other members of the White House staff, joined together to sing him "Happy Birthday." Which of course, Usher made sure to get it on video!

As CBS went on to explain, the cupcake presented to Usher was adorned with a single candle. Although we'd love to know what the musician wished for, the handshake that he got from President Obama afterwards will hopefully serve as a bit of presidential wish magic.

Maybe Obama just wanted to return the favor. Usher did release the song "Hush" in support of his 2008 presidential campaign, after all.

Although he never did comment on whether or not the cupcake was any good, we're willing to bet that regardless of how it tasted, Usher will be sure to hold a very special memory of his 37th birthday.
