Iggy Pop and the Stooges 1973 classic "Raw Power" turns 40 this month and, in a bit of fortuitous timing, Iggy announced that their first new album since then, Ready To Die, will drop on April 30.

The album will feature songs with titles such as "Sex & Money" and "Burn". While the album does share it's name with Notorius B.I.G.'s 94 opus, don't expect anything approaching hip-hop from this release. Iggy says that on Ready to Die listeners should expect the same snarling ferocity that the proto-punk rockers had 40 years ago.

"My motivation in making any record with the group at this point is no longer personal," Pop said in a video statement. "It's just a pig-headed f-ing thing I have that a real f-ing group when they're an older group they also make f-ing records."

"They don't just go and twiddle around on stage to make a bunch of f-ing money and then go 'Oh, it wouldn't be as good!' This is not the f-ing Smashing Pumpkins you know, we've got the bald guy and whoever. No. This is the key. It's the only thing I really have left to say. The Stooges are a real group."
