IDW Publishing has released Back to the Future #1 of the comic book series on a very special day. In our review, we get so much nostalgic fun from time-travelers Marty McFly (Michael J. Fox) and Doc Brown (Christopher Lloyd) as they are reunited once more.

As we perviously mentioned, in the plot synopsis, Back to the Future, teenager Marty McFly (Fox) finds himself in the '50s, thanks to scientist Doc Brown (Christopher Lloyd)'s time machine. Marty meets younger versions of his parents (Crispin Glover, Lea Thompson), who turn out to be nerds.  After disrupting events of the timeline, Marty has to make sure that they fall in love, or he will never exist.

We also mentioned, each following issue will feature rotating artistic teams, who will add more fun stories to this rich universe. The first issue will explain how Marty and Doc first met in 1982. The back-up story will then show how Doc got involved with the Manhattan Project during World War II.

In the script by Back to the Future screenwriter Bob Gale and John Barber, thankfully nothing from canon has been erased. Doc Brown is still living happily ever after with his two kids and wife, Clara (Mary Steenburgen). We get to see Doc's progression as a father with his children.  Feeling misplaced in time, Doc wants to return back to his own future and see his best friend again.

The storyline follows a sweet and heartwarming reunion between Doc and a younger version of Marty. Because this is the first time they're met, Doc and Marty are just discovering how their friendship matters in the long-run. The issue has an anti-bullying message, reminding readers how angry Marty gets when he's called chicken.

The artwork by Brent Schoonover captures a youthful and child-like caricature of the principal characters. Doc still has his wild and long hair; plus Clara is still wearing her purple dress from the frontier days. Because Marty is, the design doesn't need to be quite faithful to Fox's looks.
