ABC has ordered a new season of its hit show Switched at Birth for its fifth season. Season 4 of the show has just finished production and its finale will air on Oct. 26.

"Every season Switched at Birth continues to deliver fresh, relatable storylines that tackle important social issues, reflecting what our audience experiences daily," said ABC Family Executive VP Programming and Development, Karey Burke. "We're excited to see where Lizzy will take these characters next."

During the first four seasons of Switched at Birth, fans have seen the two girls Daphne and Bay, journey through young adulthood while navigating the dynamic of their blended families.

The show follow the lives of two families who come together after finding out that their two daughters have been switched at birth. A large aspect of the show revolves around bringing awareness to the deaf community as one of the daughters is deaf. Instead of making her differences seem like a burden, both families have taken the time to learn sign language to help them understand the challenges that a young deaf teenager could face in the world.

The fifth season will air in 2016 after ABC Family is rebranded and changed its name to Free Form. The channel will continue to focus on millennial audiences with shows like Pretty Little Liars, The Fosters and also new shows Shadowhunters and Recovery Road.

"In many ways, this feels to us like an evolution - not a huge change," said ABC Family President Tom Ascheim in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter. "If we wanted to grow and reach new people, we couldn't have this very narrow sense of who we were and hope to attract new consumers. In an attempt to build on our strength and attract new folks, we thought it was time to change our name."
