CeeLo Green Secretly Engaged to Shani James for Over a Year

CeeLo Green is tying the knot once again! MStars News has learned that the singer and producer has been secretly engaged to his longtime girlfriend, Shani James, for over a year.

According to People, The Voice host announced the news while filming his new music video for his song, "Work." During a chat with the magazine, Green bragged about his proposal and revealed that he and the 38-year-old have been engaged from some time now. Green claimed he picked the engagement ring that James had her eye on a few months before he bought it.

"It was just a typical night at the studio, but then again, not so typical cause I did something extra special, out of the ordinary," the 41-year-old said.  "I went and purchased a ring that we had seen together, maybe four or five months or so prior. I went back and purchased the ring and I just kind of had it stashed away in some old equipment. And I said, 'Will you reach in there and grab something for me?'"

Shocked, and clueless, James didn't know a pretty diamond would be waiting on her. James obviously loved her ring and said, "It was the most beautiful diamond ring I had ever seen in my life. It was lit up by a light," she gushed. "I said, 'What is that?' He just looked at me and said, 'Well...?' And I was just like 'Oh my goodness.'"

James continued, "I said, 'Babe, I can't believe it.' He said, 'You've been such a good woman. You're such and amazing person. You're my life partner. You're my best friend. I want to share the rest of my life with you.'"

Crazy that everyone is just now learning about the engagement, because Green and James have been engaged for over a year. Green claimed that he wanted to keep that part of his life quiet, and private.

"Truth be told, it's not something we wanted to promote," he said. "We're a collective power together because our private life is sacred. But you know what though, maybe it's time. Maybe it is time for the world to know that I have a very secure situation and a loving woman supporting me the entire way."

In the photo below, it appears that James is wearing the engagement ring that Green gave her.

This will be Green's second marriage. He was previously married to Atlanta Exes star, Christina Johnson from 2000 to 2005. She's seen below with her new partner, actor and chef, Willie Wallace.

Green and Johnson have one son together, Kingston, 15. Green was also the stepfather to Johnson's daughters, Sierra and Kalah.
