Despite not being Lil Wayne's main squeeze anymore, singer Christina Milian claims that the two still love each other, but it appears that it wasn't the right time in their careers to be a couple. Back in August the Milian family had a rough time when the singer's nephew, Richie Bear, died just days after being born. The death made Milian reflect on life and focus on what was really important to her. But did it the tragedy influence the couple's breakup? Was it too much going on in Milian's life to handle a relationship at that time?

In a new interview with HuffPost Live, Milian talked about ending things with the rapper, and revealed that the two split after dating a little over a year. Milian also admitted that she started to focus more on her daughter, Violet, and her family after her nephew died.

"A lot happened at once. The stuff with the family, with the baby it was a lot, it was a crazy month." Milian said that her nephew's death makes "you reflect on life, and what's important to you, and I just focused and zoned in on my daughter, on my family and when it comes to him we still love each other." She continued, "It's just appreciating each other and just chilling out, no drama attached."

But if you think the love is lost between these two, think again! Milian also revealed that she got Weezy to open up as she reflected on the time they went on a private beach trip together.

"What's fantastic about everything is that we're adults and we understand maybe it is not the right time for us. But we do love each other," Milian, whose talked passionately about Wayne on her reality show, Christina Milian Turned Up in the past said. "The best thing is to preserve our friendship and not ruin it by trying to force it. It takes a big man and a big woman to say, 'I'm in love with you but I can't keep forcing it – and it's only pushing us apart.'"

She also revealed that Weezy was a sweetheart and a really nice guy behind all of the glitz and glam of fame. "He's a sweetheart. There's sides to him that I don't think anybody knows. He's just a really, really nice guy."

Milian also explained that their relationship was a lot of fun because both of them were spontaneous. "When the two of us are in the right place, we are adventurous, we try new things. I think that's one of the most exciting things about relationships, is being spontaneous."

Speaking of spontaneous, and trying new things, Milian shared some details about a private beach trip with Wayne. She claimed that she opened up the rapper to try new things including that trip.

"I definitely got him to think and try things out of the box," she said with confidence. "Whether it was like going to a restaurant instead of eating at home with his chef, or, doing sexy, fun things that I didn't even do. Like we went to a private beach and it was romantic and nobody was there and it was dark too, and scary! But it was so adventurous and fun ... It was so hot and fun!"

For right now, Milian is remaining positive about her breakup with Wayne and still hopes that there may come a right time for them to be together again.

"Eventually, who knows! There might be a right time. This might be just it, and at the end of the day we're still here. We talk to each other still every day."
