Apparently, outspoken comedian Russell Brand knew his short-lived marriage to pop sensation Katy Perry was doomed from the beginning. Why would he stay with such a "fake" Hollywood beauty, anyway?

In Brand's highly-anticipated upcoming documentary entitled "Brand: A Second Coming," the 40-year-old "Get Him To the Greek" funnyman bashes Perry a very "profound" visit to Africia during 2010's Comic Relief.

Brand ultimately questions his relationship with the "Dark Horse" songstress:

"The stuff in Africa hit me really hard... I'm associated with the very thing I detest: vapid, vacuous, plastic, constructed, mindless celebrity. That's the very sea we're swimming in: 'Oh, who's he? He's married to Katy Perry'."

This was actually filmed during the couple's 14-month marriage.

But the British actor doesn't stop there. He continuously mocks Perry during a harsh standup routine, and even admits to industry pal  Stephen Merchant:

"It's definitely good I'm with someone I love... But it's not a resolution to anything spiritual. This is my suspicion, that at some point, to be happy, I'm going to have to walk away" (via HollywoodLife.com).

Ouch! Obviously, 31-year-old Perry's rather hurt and embarrassed by her ex's vicious comments:

"It hurts like hell for Katy to re-live her painful marriage like this," an alleged snitch recently told Grazia magazine. "She feels vulnerable and embarrassed."

Brand never actually approved this documentary himself, so perhaps he feels a bit guilty?

Both stars now remain mum on Twitter, but what do MstarsNews readers think of Brand's mean remarks about the woman he once loved? Share your thoughts in the comments section below, and check out "A Second Coming" for even more crazy footage.

The troubled pair first met at 2009's MTV VMAs, and officially tied the knot in October 2010. Brand then filed for divorce in December 2011 citing "irreconcilable differences," which was later finalized in July 2012.
