Democratic presidential frontrunner Hillary Clinton stopped by The Late Show with Stephen Colbert on Tuesday night to discuss her campaign. During her panel, the former Secretary of State explained why she wants to be the President of the United States, and expressed her firm belief that the economy is in much better shape when a Democrat is in the POTUS office.

"Why are you doing this?" Colbert asked, adding, "This is the question Ted Kennedy could not answer in 1979. Why do you want to be President of the Unites States?"

Clinton explained, alongside the fact that it's fun, that she's hoping to take that presidency in order to "build on the progress that we've been making and make it possible for more people in our country, particularly young people, to live up to their God-given potential."

After noting that her administration will see to it that the progress made over the last number of years in women's rights, gay rights, etc., is all upheld, Colbert pressed Clinton, saying that Vermont senator Bernie Sanders said much of the same things to him when he was a guest on The Late Show. He then asked how to get those "democratic socialist" ideas that Senator Sanders was discussing over to the United States.

To that, Clinton claimed that it starts with putting the middle class "back at the center of our politics" and clarify that things such as cutting the taxes of the rich and separating ourselves from corporations just doesn't work.

"I believe," she said, "that the economy does better when we have a Democrat in the White House because you do have to work against some pretty powerful forces, but at least you're there pushing back..."

In the end, Clinton express that she has no interest in running for, what she calls, her "husband's third term," nor President Obama's.

Instead, she's going for her own.
