Prosecutor Juan Martinez tired to prove that Jodi Arias killed her ex-boyfriend Travis Alexander in spite and not in self-defense. The prosecutors provided the courts with happy voicemail, sent a text message and a long email Arias had sent after murdering her former lover. In the email, Arias wrote to dead corpse that laid in his apartment, "It's ok, sweetie, you're going to be here in less than two weeks - we're going to see the sights...be happy!" The email continued, "I hope you're not still upset that I didn't come to see you," she wrote.

In the phony messages the 32-year-old invited her former lover to watch Othello adding, "Let me know. Talk to you soon. Bye." Finding holes in her testimony, Martinez also showed a confident Arias in her interview with TV show 48 hours where she didn't think she would be convicted of the murder for shooting Alexander in the face, stabbing him 27 times, and slitting his throat, "No jury is going to convict me because I'm innocent and you can mark my words...no jury is going to convict me."

Arias later testified that the only reason she said that was because she had planned on killing herself before the trial. Martinez then showed pictures of the bloody body of the victim to the court and to Arias, burst out in tears

Martinez asked her:

"Were you crying when you were shooting him?

"Were you crying when you were stabbing him?

"How about when you cut his throat, were you crying then?"

"You're the one who did this right? And you're the same individual that lied about all of this right?"

Martinez then played the footage of Arias talking to the police saying that Alexander didn't own a gun that contradicted her early testimony. If found guilty, Arias would possibly face the death penalty.
