Lea Michele & Cory Monteith Set Up by Matchmaker Producer Ryan Murphy on and off of "Glee"

Gleeks' favorite on and off screen couple, "Finchel", better known as Lea Michele & Cory Monteith, admit that they owe their "showmance" to their producer/matchmaker Ryan Murphy who brought them together as Rachel & Finn on the set of Glee.

Murphy told E! Online this week at the PaleyFest Icon Awards in Beverly Hills that his lead co-stars had noticeable chemistry from their very first scene, and that he pretty much "called it" that Monteith & Michele would be together... And he was right!

The two started officially dating outside the halls of McKinley High last year. April will mark Monteith, 30, and 26-year-old Michele's one year anniversary, and they give credit to the man who apparently started it all: Ryan Murphy.

"I directed them in their first scene together and they had that sort of chemistry that you can't fake, and I said, 'Uh-oh,'" he said. "So I did kind of know. I take credit." Murphy explained.

The "Glee" stars acknowledged that Murphy had indeed brought them together as Michele agrees, "Yes, I would definitely say he is my matchmaker for sure."

The actress and her boyfriend Monteith attended a Monday night celebration for their boss Murphy in Beverly Hills, where he received the first-ever PaleyFest Icon Award for his contribution to TV with "Glee".

Lea tweeted: "A beautiful night honoring the amazing @MrRPMurphy:) So happy for him. What a joy to be in such an amazing room with such incredible people."

Lea has also been caught raving about her man Cory in a recent interview with Life & Style magazine stating: "I really think finding someone that you are best friends with is the secret". When later asked who her celebrity crush was, Lea responded: "I'm dating my celebrity crush."

While Lea and Cory's relationship is thriving in real life, thanks to their producer helping them build that solid "friend" foundation on the set of Glee, while Rachel and Finn are in an awkward place at their relationship on the show right now.

In the latest episode that aired, Rachel and Finn spent a romantic night together after Mr. Schuester's wedding reception. This seems like great news for "Finchel" fans hoping for a rekindled relationship between the two. However, the timing is not right as Rachel is currently dating and living with Brody (who may be a male escort) back in New York, while Finn recently kissed his old guidance counselor, causing Miss Pilsberry to question her engagement to Mr. Schuester and flee the scene of her own wedding. Best Man of the year clearly goes to Finn for that one! To top it all off, the episode ends with a cliffhanger as Rachel's pregnancy test reads positive and the possibility of 2 fathers looms.

When Michele was asked about the future of "Finchel" she responded,

"I think that they'll always be on-again, off-again...I think that the end result is what everybody wants."

So thanks, Ryan Murphy, for producing a great show that brought Rachel and Finn together on Glee and Lea and Cory together in real life. Maybe they'll dedicate the "Matchmaker" song from Fiddler on the Roof to you on their wedding day!
