May's (Ming-Na Wen) relationship with Skye, now called Daisy (Chloe Bennet), was one of the more interesting dynamics during the first two seasons of Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. but that relationship has disappeared in Season 3 with May away from S.H.I.E.L.D. Will the two reunite soon this season? We've got some spoilers about that.

May acted as a maternal figure for Skye during the first two seasons. The veteran agent was her superior officer and her trainer, and she provided invaluable advice to Skye as she grew into her current role.

That doesn't mean that the two never butted heads. In fact, in the Season 2 finale, Skye and May actually came to blows in what was a pretty profound moment for the series, as Skye tried to protect her birth mother from the woman who essentially became her adopted mother.

In Season 3, Skye has been a more than capable agent as she has become comfortable with her Inhuman powers, but May had left S.H.I.E.L.D. following the events of Season 2. As a result, we have not seen the two characters interact much this season.

But is that about to change? The "Ask Ausiello" column at TVLine has some news.

"Question: Is the May/Daisy relationship going to get some attention now that May has returned to S.H.I.E.L.D.? There was so much great progress in Season 2, but it felt a little undercut in the season finale. - Olivia
Ausiello: EP Jeffrey Bell acknowledges that May hasn't been able to hang with Daisy/Quake née Skye this season, 'and we haven't forgotten that.' But a roster of '75,000 series regulars,' as he puts it, coupled with the desire to mix things up, have precluded any team-up. 'One of the things we enjoyed doing at the beginning of this season is pairing people up differently - Hunter and May, Mack and Daisy, Fitz and Bobbi.... And I think some of those have to play out,' Bell notes. 'We have a lot of very strong, badass women on the show, but yes, seeing May and Daisy fight together would be supercool.'"

As Bell indicated, the number of characters on the show causes some difficulties with focus and storytelling. Consider the critically acclaimed episode "4,722 Hours" that aired two weeks ago. That episode focused solely on Simmons (Elizabeth Henstridge) and her fight for survival on an alien planet, and it was one of the most powerful episodes the series has ever produced.

So hopefully we get to see May and Skye together again and give the story the time it deserves despite the wealth of characters on the show.
