Salman Khan to Replace Shah Rukh Khan In Karan Johar’s 'Kalank': Here's Why!

Bollywood superstar Salman Khan is going to replace superstar Shahrukh Khan in Karan Johar's upcoming movie, Kalank, which is said to be the filmmaker's magnum opus. Media outlets are speculating over it, but what is the real reason behind this?

A few months back, it was reported that Bollywood hunk, Hrithik Roshan, or the Bajirao Mastani star, Ranveer Singh, will replace Khan but with recent updates it is believed that Prem Ratan Dhan Payo star Salman Khan will replace Dilwale actor Shah Rukh Khan in Karan Johar's upcoming production venture, Kalank, which will be helmed by 2 States director, Abhishek Varman.

According to KoiMoi, "While buzz was that Hrithik Roshan or Ranveer Singh may step into SRK's shoes (not literally, of course) in the film to be directed by newbie Abhishek Varman, 9xe exclusively has it that KJo has now knocked on Salman Khan's door for the same."

It was also reported in 2014 that Salman Khan will join Johar's production company for the fantasy drama film, Shuddhi. However, later that same month, it was reported that Varun Dhawan is going to be the lead in the film. So, it would be amazing to see Khan and Johar working together after 17 years.

Johar's Kalank is said to be a partition based love story.

Shahrukh Khan is currently busy in his other ventures like promoting Dilwale and completing the last sequences of Raaes and Fan. The media has been speculating that the work schedule is the main reason why Shahrukh Khan is not going to work with Johar. The duo earlier worked in 2010 on My Name is Khan in which Khan shared the screen with Kajol.

Johar is famous for hosting a talk show with all the big stars of Bollywood but in his last season; he did not invite Shah Rukh Khan and instead invited Salman on his talk show. It lead everyone to believe that Johar's and Shah Rukh are not that close anymore. 

According to Times of India, Shah Rukh Khan made it clear in August that currently he is not doing any film with Johar as he has his own other projects to look on. 

"I am not doing a film directed by Karan as yet. If I am not wrong, he is doing a film with Ranbir (Kapoor), Ash (Aishwarya Rai Bachchan) and Anushka (Sharma), and I am not part of it." Khan said. 

Salman Khan, on the other hand, is currently promoting his upcoming family drama film, Prem Ratan Dhan Payo, and has not responded on this update.
