Indie rock singer Steven Morrissey is proactively supporting and promoting vegetarianism. He has scolded singer Beyonce for her choice of handbags.

Morrissey, former "The Smiths" frontman, has been a vegetarian since he was eleven years and is also an advocate for animal rights and supports PETA.

The 53-year-old singer scolded Beyonce for her choice of hand bags that according to him will lead to the ultimate extinction of rhinos.

Morrissey, recently insisted that the Los Angeles Staples Center must go vegetarian for his show. He managed to shut down McDonalds and the center was meatless. The 20,000-seat Staples Center, where his performance was scheduled, was a sell out, Feb. 1.

"I don't look upon it as a victory for me, but a victory for the animals," the singer said in a press statement. It was also reported that such a request was denied even to former Beatles singer, Paul McCartney.

He was also in the news for having beef with TV host Jimmy Kimmel after Morrissey cancelled his appearance on the Jimmy Kimmel Live show. He cancelled the talk show as it was to feature the cast of a hunting-centric program, Duck Dynasty, the same night as him.

Morrissey had abandoned the stage at Coachella Festival, 2009, when he smelt meat cooking.
