'Real Housewives of OC' Vicki Gunvalson's Ex Brooks Ayers Admits 'Fabricating' Cancer Records!

Reality TV and Bravo have been rocked by the revelation that Real Housewives of Orange County star Vicki Gunvalson's ex-boyfriend Brooks Ayers admitted to faking the cancer documents that he said proved he was suffering from the disease. While many of the ladies on the reality series were onto the Mississippi native, Vicki stood by his side till the end of the season. Now, he is coming clean about his lies.

After Brooks came to E! News with records from City of Hope Hospital, they confirmed that a "David Brooks Ayers" was never treated there for cancer. Some of the red flags included inconsistencies between the medical records he showed on camera and real ones obtained by E!.

In a statement to the entertainment network, the RHOC firebrand expressed his apologies for "fabricating" the papers, but still maintained he has cancer.

"Words cannot express the deep regret that I have in fabricating documents to 'prove' to the world that I, in fact, have cancer. What I did was wrong and inexcusable. I acted alone, without Vicki's knowledge, to produce documents for a reality TV show in hopes of putting doubts about my cancer to rest," Brooks told E! News. "I never intended to disclose my actual medical records or details about my private and personal medical history, thus the rationalization of presenting documents that weren't true simply for a 'storyline' for the show."

"From this day forward, my own personal journey with this disease will remain private as I initially intended over a year ago," he went on. "My sincerest apologies to my family, friends, loved ones, and those who are battling this horrid disease for any additional pain and/or stress that I have caused. As [University of Louisville basketball coach] Rick Pitino once said, 'Mistakes can be good. They are fertilizer. Everything I've learned about coaching [life], I've learned from making mistakes.' I made a mistake yet I have learned a huge lesson as well."

This is the first time Vicki's ex has admitted to lying about any part of his cancer story. While the whole account is despicable, season 10 of the hit Bravo franchise has led the network to its biggest ratings ever. It remains to be seen if Brooks will appear on season 11 in any capacity.
