Finally! Jessa Duggar and her husband Ben Seewald have revealed their newborn son's name. We have to say it's very unique, but some may think it's a bit weird.
In the video below, the Seewalds introduced their son as, Spurgeon Elliot Seewald. Yep, Spurgeon – kind of rhymes with surgeon.
So what made them pick a name that no one probably would guess? New dad, Ben said that his son was named after Charles Spurgeon. Spurgeon had been a preacher from the 19th century. According to People, the British preacher who was Baptist was known as one of the best preacher's of England. Spurgeon spoke to crowds that had up to 10,000 people during his preaching days. The is also a theological college in London named after the man in history.
The 20-year-old father said that Charles Spurgeon had major influence on his and Jessa's lives. The couple claimed that they still read some of Mr. Spurgeon's sermons books. Ben went to say why his son's middle name was Elliot. Ben said his son's middle name came from Jim and Elizabeth Elliot who were missionaries in South America. Jim Elliot actually died doing missionary work, while his wife continued their good work.
Jessa also revealed that her son's nickname has been Quincy since finding out she was pregnant. MStars News previously reported that the couple struggled with a name for their son. The also had some chaos during little Spurgeon's birth.
Baby Seewald weighed a shocking 9lbs when he was born on Nov. 5. Now the family of three seem to be all smooth and happy.
Congrats again guys on the new bundle of joy!
